Here we are told to tell our views as we see fit,
We are told to be true to ourselves and not fake it,
Yet then we are told just how we must feel, and how we must tell it:
“Please read and share the voices of many using creative expression to speak to the sham appointment of Dame Susan Devoy as Race Relations Commissioner. You are all invited to add your poetic justice to this blog”.
Ah yes, you want us to tell how we must feel, and not to lie or conceal,
And yet you control what our views must be,
Lest you will not print them nor allow others to see,
Can you not spell Hypocrisy?
Is it fair that the rights of the majority,
Must be suppressed and controlled by the small minority?
Is it right that racial slur is only unfair, if your skin by itself is fair?
Try working as some of us do, in the largest polynesian capital near you,
And listen daily as I do, to vile racial slurs made by who?
By One pacific nation to another, by brown brother to brown brother,
By maori folk to pacific allies, by pacific folk to natives of our isles.
If you want to see real racial hate, look at the brown folk within your own state,
With gangs that use skin colour as their name and pride of power,
And take out their vengeance with all their might,
On the basis of race, they claim that as their right.
When you work daily with it as I do, and you hear and see the reality,
Ask yourself, what is racial hypocrisy?
